Seriously, how fantastic are these?

I found it on a new site I love HomeSav.
Kind of like "Groupon" but with deals on gorgeous home decor and products.

has been obsessively "redecorating"

When I say redecorating, I mean re purposing items I already own to other rooms of my house.

Today, 3 of the 4 floors were involved. I switched up entire room color schemes, I rearranged plants, pillows and paintings. I am even honestly thinking about turning my old duvet cover into curtains for the playroom/office. Does that sound crazy?

I also ordered these FLOR Fedora tiles in Oatmeal from CB2 for the living room.

From the CB2 website:
"Our fave carpet squares go menswear in the soft, heathered felt of a haberdasher's hat. Kudos to Fedora's 80% post-consumer fibers and great price, making the green life accessible to all. Arrange to your liking; rinse off spills in sink.
"

I'm telling you, I'm on a mission.

Croc planters?!?

Welcome Wednesdays

I saw this in the April issue of Real Simple and it's been in the back (very back) of my mind to do. Well summer's almost over but I would still love to get around to doing this. I think it would look so cute outside, in my laundry room or even in my girls bedrooms

What do you think? Have I crossed the line into Tackyville?

Two's day: Lust worthy catalogs

I haven't gone completely green yet, I still love receiving catalogs in the mail. I don't actually order from too many of them but it's relaxing to me to browse through them to get ideas and inspiration.

Two that really stand out to me are:

Chasing Fireflies - I like everything at this children's boutique site but the costumes are particularly creative

Blissliving Home - there shower curtains in particular are beautiful

What catalogs make you happy when they arrive in the mail?

needs a new rug!

Welcome Wednesdays

Ok Ok Ok, I want a new rug for our living room, it's a bit bland ever since we took the old rug out and bought the cream leather sofas seen here in this post. I had decided to let it be for the summer and see how I felt without a rug since my husband is partial to bare hardwood floors. But I'm still feeling rug.........

A new to me blog I love, High-Heeled Foot in the Door couldn't have made my decision any easier. Gorgeous Missoni-ish stripes for $119. Done and done!

is sharing her bedroom

Welcome Wednesdays

I thought it would be fun to start a new feature here on Today Hilary called Welcome Wednesdays. Every Wednesday I'll share an aspect of my house, whether it's something I recently designed, decorated, renovated, purchased, need to change, organized, like/dislike...

Ok, to catch everyone up to speed about 3 years ago Danny and I purchased the ultimate fixer-upper, a 5 bedroom and 4 bathroom craftsman style house in NJ.

Sounds great so far, right? Wrong.........

This house needed WORK. We've done 80% of everything we wanted to on a major budget and alot of it we did ourselves. I'm kicking myself because I don't have too many before pictures to really show the depth of this project but I think you'll get the idea.

Let's begin in the master bedroom:

I only have this before shot

bedroom furniture, The Door Store (from previous condo)
duvet from IKEA
throw pillows from HSN
curtain, West Elm

aries pillowcases from Urban Outfitters
(Danny and I are both Aries)

lamp from HomeGoods

water bottle from Starbucks
dream journal from Anthropologie
capri blue volcano candle from Anthropologie

vase, Crate and Barrel

good fortune bowl Urban Outfitters
kabbalah candle, White Barn Candle Co.

pot, Crate and Barrel

photographs, HomeGoods

fan, Lowe's

Let me know what you think!

How do you decorate your place on a budget?

Until tomorrow,

Peacocks

In keeping with the new design of Today Hilary, I thought it would be fun to do a 2 part peacock post.

I love peacock feathers - their jeweled colors and iridescent tones. I have a bouquet of them in
my downstairs bathroom. Take a peek:

I found some beautiful spring "peacock" pieces to add to your wardrobe. How fun are these:

By the way, I hope you are loving my new blog design as much as I am. Thank you so much Lauren of Designer Blogs for your patience while we figured out what I wanted....

PS - Stay tuned tomorrow for a peacock giveaway (Bet you never heard that before!)

painted pottery!

Today was an eventful day.....

We had our new sofas delivered, I'm loving the new living room look with all the shades of cream.

Later that day, we met my daughters god parents and some of their family for a birthday brunch at Toast in Montclair. That was my second time there, what a great space. I love that it's 2 floors and you just feel like you're lounging at someones house. I ordered two of my reliable favorites, a chai latte and eggs benedict. Yummy!

Afterwards we went a local paint your own ceramics studio a few blocks away. It's called Doin' Dishes (click here for info - no website). Olivia had a great time painting a spoon rest.

How was your Tuesday?

Until tomorrow,
Hilary

spent the day spring cleaning!

We are preparing for some new couches for the living room (cream colored leather - are we in denial or what?). They'll be arriving later this week so we wanted to get a few loose ends tied up, fix the floors, touch up some paint, change the color scheme, buy a few new and fake plants...I'm loving how it looks and it's only 25% done.

However, in typical Hilary fashion one thing lead to another and I now feel like I'm redecorating the entire house. I take what I don't want from one room and move it to another room, changing that room's color palette. I'm constantly shifting stuff around the whole house.

Do your project's get out of hand also?

Until tomorrow,
Hilary
