wants these sandals

Friends: It's been a while.
I guess my get up and go, got up and left.......
I'll try and blog better.

I'm loving these new Jack Rogers Navajo sandals in waterproof PVC. I got turned on to this brand years ago while working at Ralph Lauren in NYC. They are chic, stylish and also comfortable. Honestly, come to think of it, I don't know why they didn't think of a "jelly" version sooner....

$68 sold at several stores including Nordstrom (one of my favorite stores based on their amazing customer service - evidenced in this post).

I'm getting a pair, who's with me?

11/11/10

got and gave!

Today I shopped the Give and Get sale at GAP (and Old Navy and Banana Republic - but I digress). I always try to participate in these sales, it's a win win situation 30% off and a donation to charity. Count me in!

I'm especially happy with these new exercise pants I bought, gFlex.

$34.65 after the discount and a great fit, I predict I'll be wearing these alot...

starts her Christmas Wish List

Dear Santa:
I've been a good girl this year.....

figured out her personal design aesthetic...

While having a friend and her munchkins over today for a play date the talk turned to fashion as we both have both have similar backgrounds in that industry. We compared our wish lists for both children's and women's clothes and accessories. I wasn't familiar with many of her brands as most of them were a bit obscure or new to me. Finally, later into the conversation she said "so you like American sportswear?" and so it dawned on me, "why yes! yes I do!"

Haha! Is this breaking news?!?l A light bulb went off and I had an A-HA moment, my design aesthetic is mostly American designers and American "inspired" style, such as:

Anthropologie

Tory Burch

Kate Spade

Madewell

J Crew

It's easy to know what you like but sometimes hard to define it....

Ultrasound/Urban Outfitters

Today, I left my youngest daughter, Sophia (14 months) at home with my mother in law while I went to the Radiologist. I took my oldest daughter Olivia (2 1/2 years old) for an ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder. It was a totally non-invasive procedure and just a precaution since she had a UTI a few weeks ago. She was in great spirits the whole time and thought the machine tickled her while taking a photo of her belly.

After we left the appointment enjoyed some mommy and me time. We went to Starbucks and Urban Outfitters (a store I used to love stopping into in NYC but our local one in the neighboring town is so stroller-unfriendly I never bother). I love revisiting an old love and seeing that they are doing well for themselves. Is it weird to take shopping this seriously?

I saw a few great pieces in Urban that I definitely want to come find during the post holiday clearance when prices will be substantially lower. However, I did pick up a few little do-dads from the $2.99 (!) clearance table but my favorite buy was this open cardigan, $19.99 and I'll wear it all winter I can already tell. I'm starting to stock up on this style of cardigan. I love the drapey, comfy yet polished vibe they give an outfit.

What are your current go-to pieces?

wore my Worishofers again!

I think I've worn these sandals for two weeks straight since they've arrived in the mail.
Perfect height, perfect neutral color and perfect combo of cute/ugly.

(Disclaimer - I did see a little old Polish lady in Coney Island with the same pair. Obviously she has great taste and values comfort as well)

What do you think?

is starting to rethink White House Black Market

Never shopped there before
Never wanted to shop there before

I recently saw these and feel like my world's been turned upside down

wants a new FEED bag

I received this FEED 100 bag as a birthday present a few years ago and am still gaga over it.
It is so convenient to bring shopping, starting out as a little pouch
that you can unzip it into a full bag.

I think this one available at Lord & Taylor is perfect for fall.
I love an item that supports a humanitarian cause
but is also just plain stylish at the same time.

wishes it were Saturday!

My husband and I are starting bi-weekly date nights now that Sophia is 1 and sleeping through the night. Saturday was our first night back on the scene and boy did we live it up! The babysitters face when we burst back in the door laughing was priceless.....

We went to a co-worker 30th birthday bash at the 3Forty Grill in Hoboken. The view of NYC was sick, the music was great and the drinks were flowing. I had the 3Forty Tini (skyy raspberry vodka, malibu rum, triple sec, watermelon pucker, banana liqueur, pineapple puree and a pineapple slice
).

What I wore:
Top - Express (thrifted)
Skirt - Aerie
Shoes - Icora
Earrings - Swarwoski

This is one of my first outfit posts.
What do you think? How did I do?

got clogs

A friend gave me a DSW gift card for my birthday. I hadn't shopped there in years but I'm always game for new shoes.

I chose this N.Y.L.A Lukas Clog:

I love the ivory and dark wood combo and a wedge heel means I'll be more likely to actually wear them.....

I've really been into clogs lately and would also love a pair of Sweedish Hasbeens like these:

got a new catalog in the mail

I've been stuck home with both of my girls sick. We are totally missing out on this 90 degree April weather here on the East coast. We are definitely getting cabin fever and any contact from the outside world is appreciated. So you better believe, I was excited to get a new catalog in the mail (anything to break up the monotony).

It was from SWELL, I had never heard of that company before and honestly don't even know how I got on their list. But I really liked what I saw. The clothes are for men and women and have a laid back, southern California, surfer vibe. Best of all, everything was affordable - dresses starting at $29.50, shorts starting at $19.50. Some of the brands were familiar such as O'Neill, UGG, Free People and Billabong while others were new to me.

I'll definitely check them out for a little summer shopping. I love finding great things in unexpected places!

Some of my favorites:Billabong Tashen Dress - $46.00

O'Neill Picasso Tank - $29.50

Indah Tatiana Jumpsuit - $65.00

What's on your summer shopping list?
By the way don't forget to enter my Peacock Accessories giveaway - ends TOMORROW!

Until tomorrow,

is loving her new hat!

My sister gave me this amazing hat and I can't wait to wear it poolside......The picture doesn't do it justice. The brim is perfect to protect you from the sun but isn't too large or floppy that it would be in the way of a good magazine or margarita (hey a mommy can dream, can't she?)...

It's from Swim'n Sport and was $24. It's not currently on their website but take a look at the beautiful bathing suits.

Are you excited for summer?

Until tomorrow,
Hilary

is searching for the perfect snow boot!

Living in the northeast requires you to have a fully functional wardrobe for all 4 seasons, where else do the temperatures range from 15 - 105 degrees.........

This winter has been especially brutal and my footwear has not been up to par. I alternate between my knee high Hunter rain boots which husby gave me last year for Christmas and Uggs.

The Hunter boots are great because they are extremely waterproof. I also like that they are knee high so your pants stay nice and dry. However, they are made of rubber and do not keep your feet warm at all. These are probably better for Spring and Autumn.

I really love Uggs (over the past 5 years I've had about 8 pairs - this is my current pair). They are a comfortable and casual choice for Fall and Winter. Their downside is the suede is not waterproof if you are in rain or snow for a long time.

Today's blizzard did not keep me from an afternoon trip to Target where I saw a girl wearing Moon Boots.

Product description from Amazon:

This boot from Tecnica is no match for even the coldest of weathers. This Moon boot has a weatherproof upper, heavily padded linings for keeping you warm, and dual drawstring closures for a custom fit. It also has a heavy-duty treaded outsole to keep you steady on icy surfaces. Ladies and Gentlemen: the original, the classic, the eternally fashionable Tecnica Women's Moon Boot. Take a giant step for mankind with the Tecnica Moon Boot's plush comfort and killer style.

They sound like the best of both worlds. Next winter, I'm getting a pair...

Would you wear Moon Boots?

Until tomorrow,
Hilary

is loving her new vintage boots!

I went to a thrift store with my mom and daughters yesterday for what I thought would be a relaxing morning of vintage shopping!
Boy, was I wrong........The store was a total madhouse! People were even waiting outside to get in, it was almost impossible to navigate the aisles.
Turns out there was a Presidents Day sale and everything was an additional 50% off, so I persevered and got a few great pieces including a pair of vintage oxblood leather wedge boots.
I already replaced the insoles and will be rocking these beauties tomorrow!
